My reading and writing instruction is based on years of research on the science of reading. It also draws on a comprehensive understanding of your child's cognitive, academic, and social-emotional profiles. This ensures we promote individual strengths. I am a strong advocate of structured literacy approaches such as Orton-Gillingham.
There is no quick fix for dyslexia or other language-based disabilities. Most clients stay with me for two to three years. We meet twice weekly. This long-term commitment ensures collaboration for the best possible results. I work with students aged 8 and older and adults, including those with ADHD or who are twice exceptional (2e).
In addition to instruction, my sessions foster academic and non-academic skills. These include critical thinking, organization, attention, work strategies, and self-advocacy. I work on attention using specific techniques and tools. I teach self-advocacy by helping students understand their learning styles and needs. The goal is for each student to take ownership of their education and inspire growth.
Sessions can be in person at my office in East Roseville or online.
